I still don't understand why there is so much difference with my mobile connection. This includes streets, stores, tourist attractions, airports, and even an isolated shack in Antarctica. There should be no duplication of displays.

This thing is pretty rough around the edges but it does work. Brandon Jones new WebVR builds of Chromium on Nov. However we want to put avatars inside first and the start working on this part.

EarthVR: StreetView for DK2

Is there any way this can work with Firefox, because it is not working for me in Chromium What exacly does not work? Tracking, stereo rendering, command, all white screen? Hi troffmo5 When I try to use the chrome. I have a 64bit Windows 8. The tracker works ok though, it recognises that I have a rift DK2. Is there a way I can use this with Firefox or another browser, WebGL or suggest something else to get this working. Use the WebVR Chromium browser that he linked above! Just tried this for the first time, using this new version of WebVR... What a better experience Street View is in the Rift. The headtracking, depth, and sense of scale are great. Going back to looking at it on a flat screen feels so dull. I'm really looking forward to a judder-free version of this. I'm guessing it'll take a non-web-browser-based application but who knows. It'd also be great to be able to move around using the d-pad or arrow keys or something, instead of having to double-click with the mouse a zillion times - am I missing something there? I got the turning with the analog stick, which is ok, but could use something for moving. THANKS to everyone who made this possible! Street View is going to be a big app for VR. LiveViewRift can load panoramas amongst lots of other different options like playing 360 vids or traditional vids etc and it can be viewed then in the DK2.. Hi kapnobtai we have 3d Photo Spheres working in Orbulus but have not enabled that feature as so few exist. We have done a few of our own and have had other enthusiasts contribute theirs. Could you let us know where you have found them and we will see if the authors are happy for them to be presented in that way? Aside, one of the reasons why little has been done in this area is that you have to be really careful about copyright as many of the Photo Sphere owners have suffered with people just copying and using their work for non authorized purposes and they are very sensitive about this issue. Cheers Unclebob I had a little strucle with starting it. This helped With windows button + two times right arrow you go from monitor to rift. Then: With F11 you toggle full screen Chrome. With F5 you toggle scene selector. I ordered a Bubl , witch starts delevery the end of October. The Bubl is a little camera that makes the same kind of pictures as Google does. This means that every foto taken with the Bubl can be viewed in the Rift. They are only working on a dozen projects at the same time to make it work on a range of devices, like viewing it all around with a tablet or smartphone. I bought it for the Rift and hope when it arrives it is compatible. Since here is a lot of expertise, maybe you can work together. I send an email to Bublcam. Keep on the good work! Sorry in advance for the noob question. I've got street view up and running in the chromium browser untold thanks for your work, this was my main motivation for buying a rift , however I have a split view. I assume this is because I am trying to view a three dimensional image in two dimensions. I'm sure the fix is super simple. Help would be immensely appreciated. This thing is pretty rough around the edges but it does work. Here are some tips: Make sure your Rift display mode is set to extended. Run the WebVR-enabled version of Chromium and browse to. Maximize the Chromium window on your main monitor, then move it over to the Rift using Win+Shift+Left or right arrow. Now you should be ready to start using it. Double-tap space bar to toggle whether the UI is shown. With the UI hidden, press F to enter Rift fullscreen mode. Now you should be able to look around with a proper view. Press Alt or was it Ctrl? Use the mouse to double-click where you want to move to or drag to change which way you're facing. Press Esc to exit Rift fullscreen mode. For me, I need to double-tap space to bring up the UI while in Rift fullscreen mode, even though the UI isn't shown in that mode, then I can press Esc to see the UI. If I don't do this just right, the map isn't displayed properly or clicking on it doesn't work. If at any time you see a useless looking rectangle in the middle of the screen, hit Ctrl+R to refresh the whole page because it's busted at that point. This happens to me when searching for some places by name or clicking on one of those panorama dots - don't do that. Stick to the streets. And if you can't get to a place via search, you'll need to find it on the map instead and click on a street to go there. By the way, from it sounds like he might've solved the judder problems, but he hasn't released a new WebVR-enabled build of Chromium yet. I'm waiting on that to try this again. I hope he's fixed it. With a 60Hz main monitor, I've never been able to get a smooth experience with or without DWM Aero enabled, even with the Rift as primary. There should be no duplication of displays. You should be in extended mode, which means your desktop is extended across both displays. Each display should have its own part of the desktop where you can put stuff, with no overlap between displays. The Chromium window should be entirely on the Rift, not spanning both displays. You should get that result if you follow the steps I gave. Also make sure your DK2 is set to run at 1920x1080 and is rotated to Portrait orientation in the display driver settings - this is kind of a basic step that needs to be done to get it to work properly with anything in extended mode. Brandon Jones new WebVR builds of Chromium on Nov. However, I observed significant latency. It was the same kind of latency I saw with iRacing when using extended mode. Basically, turn your head, stop, and the world keeps turning for a moment. Nod your head and the world moves up and down. Still, it's better than the old judder. Dear All, I am a Civil Engineer. I would like to know the street view C++ program. I am trying to run this RiftServer file with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 professional but not yet success. When i want to build this program, show this title LIBCMTD. I am very sorry for taking your valuable time. I am waiting for your valuable response. Regards Abdur Rahman Dear All, I built the RiftServer project with Microsoft Visual studio 2012 professional successfully but when i want to debug this program, it show : 'RiftWrapper. The WebVR version is very buggy. The map only shows about a quarter of the map in the upper left hand corner and it's almost impossible to click on anything. It's also very juddery. In the FAQ it says to hard set the Rift to 60hz to remove low persistence, which helps, but instead of judder you get blurry images. If it wasn't for the buggy interface I could probably stand the judder. Is the external tracker better? All the external tracker does is relay the orientation of the Rift to the web browser. You still have to use the same buggy web site. It's mainly a matter of experimenting and finding a sequence of steps that works reliably. Btw, I don't get judder with the latest WebVR build of Chromium. I use Windows 7 with a 60Hz monitor and Rift set as primary and 75Hz refresh rate. If I have Aero on, it's smooth with no visual artifacting, but there's an uncomfortable delay that feels like messed up timewarp or something. This is better than the delay, though. Do not set Chrome to fullscreen mode F11. That screws everything up. I have the newest build and it still has judder for me. Not sure what we're doing differently. But like I said, the judder isn't the biggest issue for me, it's interacting with the map and getting to different places using Streetview. I saw today that Google released native VR support for the mobile version of Google maps, hopefully they'll also release it for the desktop version! Hi, i changed my pc and i can't get oculus dk1 to work witk Google Street view. Calibration ok Rift server 0. I can only get Chromium 0. It only tends to show when not in full screen. And when it DOES show, I cant click on any of the blue streets to bring me to a location. So I've been stuck in that same intro scene and can't go anywhere. It was so easy with DK1. Launch the server, open Chrome, go to website.

There is only 960x1080 pixels for a 100°x100° field of view. Maybe your implementation is better than ours. Con you need to render at a higher resolution because of the dewarping, currently it's set at 2364x1461 in the SDK for the DK2 to not loose resolution in the center. I'm sure the fix is super simple. Then: With F11 you toggle full screen Chrome. I'm zip it'll take a non-web-browser-based application but who knows.
